'IO Contesto' was commissioned by a yachtsman with serious intentions of prolonged blue water voyages, very sadly fate intervened and he passed away before fulfilling these ambitions. She was designed by a company of naval architects who over viewed the project from start to completion. Built by Ian B Richardson boat builders of Stromness, Orkney to a very high standard and launched in 2004. Below is the information we have on the vessel to date.

Draft: 1.68M/5'6"

Hull
Clinker construction from seasoned larch 22.5MM/ ⅞Inch on sawn oak frames and intermediates of oak or rock elm.

Superstructure

Iroko planking with micro mesh and west epoxy coating supported on oak deck beams.

Deck
18mm Marine ply (buts staggered) with 12.5mm Iroko planking over.

Keel Material
Approx. 3000KG lead ballast fastened with monel metal bolts.

Steering Gear
Wheel and tiller.

Engine
Vetus diesel engine. New, only sea trial hours.

Shaft & Prop
1¼ Inch stainless steel shaft with bronze 16” 3 blade propeller.

Sails and Rig
Sails, standing rigging and running rigging is as it was when she was a new build. Used very little.

Windlass
Very heavy duty Vetus windlass (see picture)

There is a very large inventory of equipment all to be included in the sale of this vessel. Including life raft, dinghy, outboard, beaching legs etc etc and an option to purchase her permanent swinging mooring in her home port of Glencoe. This is an amazing craft. Immensely strong and built on traditional Shetland line for total seaworthiness.
